Security Surveillance/Encroachment Monitoring

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and high-resolution optical satellites can be used for  early detection of unauthorized encroachment in restricted areas.  These sensors provide an operational service for the automated, near-real-time detection of unauthorized vehicles, machinery or activity that could pose threats to infrastructure or sovereignty.  It is particularly useful for large infrastructure (pipelines/rail lines) or remote sites, which are not amenable to routine patrols.

C‑CORE has developed an Encroachment Monitoring Software System (EMSS), incorporating a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and routines that are used in near-real time.  The software is used by an analyst on an operational service basis: it is designed to process thousands of satellite images per week and provide notification to personnel by  e-mail or Internet.
