Semi-Automated Classification of Oil slicks at sea using Radar and Optical imagery (SACORO)

C-CORE was involved in an Earth Observation Applications Development Program of the Canadian Space Agency  project to enable Semi-Automated Classification of Oil slicks at sea using Radar and Optical imagery (SACORO) to detect, classify and characterize oil slicks at sea.

C-CORE’s main work for this project is to extract features from various remotely sensed (radar and electro-optical) data and combine them to improve discrimination of oil slicks from false alarms.  The main source of data for this project is from the Deep Water Horizon incident.
