Thomas Puestow, M.Sc., Director, Remote Sensing - Earth Observation
Thomas Puestow holds a Master of Science in Remote Sensing/Geographic Information Systems from Memorial University (NL) and a B.Sc. in Geography/Botany/Chemistry from the University of Frieburg (Germany). His research interests include development of remote sensing based techniques to address problems in coastal zone management, such as oil spill sensitivity modelling and emergency response planning. Thomas has more than 20 years’ experience in the development and application of algorithms for spatial analysis, image processing and remote sensing, particularly for near-real-time detection. Since joining C‑CORE in 2001, he has been leading complex projects focusing on the innovative use of EO for industrial and environmental monitoring applications such as pipeline surveillance, water quality monitoring and river ice assessment. As program manager of Polar View, Thomas coordinated the provision of global EO-based services for the monitoring of areas affected by snow and ice across an international network of more than 90 partner organizations.
