Experts in Pipeline Integrity Monitoring and Surveillance
C-CORE has developed technologies that enable
more reliable detection of potential encroachment activities and
assessment of sub-centimetre ground movement that can affect
pipelines. These technologies use satellite-based imagery with
automated processing for pipeline integrity monitoring. Working
in partnership with via+, a commercial provider of pipeline
integrity monitoring and analysis services, national and
international clients are applying these technologies as part of
their operational programs.
Specialists in Offshore and Northern Environments
C-CORE has extensive experience providing design recommendations for offshore pipelines in ice scoured environments around the world. Our experience and expertise have enabled us to develop a risk model that incorporates driving forces, keel behaviour, soil behaviour and pipe response. This model has been applied successfully to pipeline developments in Grand Banks, Northstar, Lake Erie and Sakhalin Island (Russia). As well, we recently concluded a study of single-walled versus double-walled pipelines in Arctic environments. We also provide advisory services for mitigative measures and route selection for pipelines in harsh environments.
In addition to our specialized expertise in offshore environments, C-CORE is also a world leader in pipeline research for northern environments. Our geotechnical centrifuge, as part of C-CORE's research facility, is capable of modelling pipe/soil response to thaw settlement and frost heave in permafrost conditions.

engineering are world class. The centrifuge and full-scale pipeline
facilities, combined with our numerical modelling systems, enable us
to provide complete pipe/soil interaction testing. And the computer
infrastructure supporting the pipeline monitoring technologies is
considered leading edge. These capabilities allow us to develop
engineering solutions for pipelines in offshore and onshore
regions.
